Open Systems International (OSI) was a rapidly growing software company that needed to expand its headquarters by 65,000 square feet to accommodate its increasing workforce. The expansion included modern offices, training facilities, and a cafeteria. Security features were strategically placed throughout the facility to ensure controlled access to restricted areas without compromising the building's functionality or aesthetic appeal. We provided comprehensive services, including architectural and interior design and civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering, to ensure that the new space seamlessly integrated with the existing campus while meeting OSI's operational needs.

Strategic Glazing for Security, Serenity, and Zoning Requirements

Our team devised a creative solution to comply with the city's zoning glazing requirements while ensuring the safety of OSI's sensitive operations. We strategically placed limited glazing to block views of the adjacent highway while maximizing glazing in areas overlooking nearby wetlands to take advantage of the natural surroundings. Spaces with reduced glazing or opaque spandrel glass included areas with confidential information and training rooms to minimize external distractions and maintain privacy. On the other hand, we increased the amount of glazing in the cafeteria and break areas to enhance employee well-being with natural light and beautiful views. This thoughtful approach effectively balanced security, functionality, and environmental considerations.
